I'm working on a 3d image to explain how "dark energy" is created as a heavenly body moves through space. This is a modification of the classic 2d image used to explain Einstein's theory of the time space warp. The current cone shapes will be changed. They are the wrong shape to explain the place and direction where "dark energy" is formed as a "force".

This is the second road test of the portable Raku Kiln shown in SketchUp drawings. As you can see the design has changed. A good friend had make the comment, " wouldn't it be cool if it were motorized". Well I've had some bike parts laying around for several years, so you know how that goes. There is still quite a bit to go on this project. I thought I'd show this because I haven't put a new SketchUp design on my blog for a while. Now you know why.Don Easthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09307078199668970556noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5012328608818887887.post-5547917843153596922014-03-03T07:07:00.002-08:002014-03-03T07:07:47.539-08:00
This is my current project. There is still a lot of detail to go. It's a Baldwin Mikado 2-8-2 which belongs to the Yreka Western Railroad. The railroad is currently not running. Their are local people who are trying to save out historic short line. I'm creating this model in hopes I can use it to encourage others to help save our historic 1915 engine and railroad.

I've been doing a lot of SketchUp lately. There have been some very large projects. This kiln design is for a wood or gas fired kiln for reduction firing. It's my plan to build this kiln this spring once the weather warms up. As always I'm open for any comments or suggestions on this design.

This building design is an idea that struck me from observing nature. Many Deciduous trees grow in a upward helix formation. The gain strength from growing in this form. So the thought is how might this apply to architecture. That has lead to the attached design. Do you have any thoughts?

A model of a 1929 type coupe. This is a design of my own. I was trying a new way of creating a model. At least new for me. I created a square in space. Modified with arch's, lines, etc. then used the Offset tool to create a smaller version of the shape. Nest the push-pull tool was used to draw out a space between the two shapes. Using the line tool the outside edges of the two shape were connected together with triangles. The second face was drawn out with the push-pull tool. The new pulled-out shape was modified by a number of tools. After modification that shape was pulled out again. The new shape modified and pulled-out. This was continued until the desired shape was formed. My image of this process was similar to the old balsa wood models I use to build. A series of bulk heads connected by stringers. I think it's a good way of keeping a model simple. This model also has different segments to the arches. Just part of the experiment.Don Easthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09307078199668970556noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5012328608818887887.post-59271596641048906712011-11-22T09:45:00.001-08:002011-11-22T09:57:18.358-08:001930's Type Race Car

I decided to take a break for all the mechanical parts of the car and work on a body design. I like the idea of 1930's race car. This is a rendering in Kerkythea as a test to how it might look when finished.Don Easthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09307078199668970556noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5012328608818887887.post-47211762544665863662011-11-12T20:09:00.001-08:002011-11-12T20:10:30.547-08:00

The is a auto front end of a car. This type of front end design was around the late 20's to the early 30's. I would like to stick with this project this winter. And see if I can design a complete car of my own design. I'm current in the process of restoring a 1933 Chevrolet 5 window coupe Master. Working with drawings like this as I do a restoration help me to more completely understand the workings of the project.Don Easthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09307078199668970556noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5012328608818887887.post-54702331604730862722011-11-06T10:25:00.001-08:002011-11-06T10:28:46.829-08:00

This Video is for a project I'm working on with the City of Yreka as a proposal to create a downtown Arts Center and training facility. This project is designed to serve several purposes. A Concierge Service for the greater Yreka area. This would be a combined service for all the businesses, restaurants and motels, hotels, B&B's, etc. As an center for the Arts we would be creating small studio spaces for artists, work areas, and meeting areas for classes, and general areas for artists to spend time together. This space will also function as an introduction for tourists to the Yreka community to support and enhance work our Chamber is doing. As a pass through from the parking lot to the Miner St. /Broadway/ Lane St. historic district. An introduction to the History of Yreka would be presented in a pictorial review.Don Easthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09307078199668970556noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5012328608818887887.post-17426147421021766882011-06-22T08:09:00.000-07:002011-07-09T05:53:37.357-07:00SketchUp plus Kerkythea

This is a video produced to show the use of the rendering program Kerkythea in combination with SketchUp. This demonstration was given at a Meetup gathering at Google in Mountain View, Ca. I have used Kerkythea for a couple of years now and am very pleased with the results. If you right click on the video you can make a choice to watch the video in YouTube in HD full screen.
